Ippolito Alfieri

I have always struggled with sport; perhaps due to the physiology of the sports that I have chosen, but above all in my effort to stand out. I have never been a sporting “talent”. The important thing is to be aware of it. But sport has taught me that with discipline and perseverance – even if you start behind – you can get a long way. This holds true also, and above all, in life. For me sport has the face of Roger Federer and his ability to make the most impossible movement seem simple (the mythological hero), and that of the tenacious Stefano Baldini, who entered Panathinaiko with eyes that said “only I believed, but here I am, winning the marathon of marathons Athens 2004:”

Head in the sky, feet on the ground.
